YANGON, July 20 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar authorities seized 1.54 kilograms of heroin in Shan state, according to the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) on Saturday.
The seizure was made by the joint anti-narcotic task force in Mongmao township on Friday afternoon.
Soap boxes filled with heroin worth 154 million kyats (102,666 U.S. dollars) were confiscated along with some cashes from a car travelling from Lweje to Mongmao town near a checkpoint in the township.
A 25-year-old suspect in connection with the case was charged under the country's Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, the committee's release added.
