MACAO, July 22 (Xinhua) -- Visitor arrivals to Macao totaled 3.10 million in June, up by 18.9 percent year-on-year, the special administrative region (SAR)'s statistic service said here on Monday.
The latest report from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the overnight visitors rose by 5.7 percent year-on-year to 1.53 million, while same-day visitors surged by 35.4 percent to 1.57 million.
The average length of stay of visitors shortened by 0.1 day to 1.2 days, with that of overnight visitors and same-day visitors holding steady at 2.2 days and 0.2 day respectively.
The DSEC report added that the visitors from the Chinese mainland increased by 19.9 percent year-on-year to 2.10 million, mainly from the provinces of Guangdong and Hunan.
Visitors from the Hong Kong SAR (623,114) and China's Taiwan region (94,078) increased by 24.3 percent and 1.3 percent respectively year-on-year. Visitors from South Korea (65,753) went up by 5.1 percent year-on-year.
Analysed by mode of transport, visitor arrivals by land soared by 51.5 percent year-on-year to 2.24 million in June. Visitor arrivals by air grew by 15.2 percent year-on-year to 311,163, and those by sea declined by 36.2 percent to 545,063.
