BANGKOK, July 30 (Xinhua) -- Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn vowed on Tuesday to boost mutual trust and cooperation between the two countries.
The two met on the sidelines of the ASEAN (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations) foreign ministers' meeting and other related meetings in Bangkok, Thailand.
During their meeting, the Chinese top diplomat hailed the traditional friendship and mutual understanding and support between China and Cambodia.
Since the beginning of this year, China-Cambodia relations have kept developing rapidly as the two countries signed an action plan on building China-Cambodia community of shared future, he noted.
"We are willing to keep frequent exchanges with the Cambodian leadership to push forward the cooperation on Belt and Road Initiative," Wang added.
The Chinese state councilor also mentioned that some media deliberately defamed the China-Cambodia cooperation, which is doomed to failure in the light of facts.
He said China is willing to jointly safeguard regional stability and prosperity with the ASEAN countries.
For his part, Prak Sokhonn said Cambodia is the first country to sign an action plan with China on building community of shared future, which is a practical step taken by both sides to deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation.
The deputy PM also expressed gratitude for China's assistance to Cambodia's socio-economic development as well as its support for Cambodia to choose its path for development independently.
Cambodia is willing to join hands with China to promote the ASEAN foreign ministers' meetings to focus on cooperation and development, and deliver positive messages to the outside world.
