DAQING, North China, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Chinese number one snooker player Ding Junhui withstood a fightback from Germany's Simon Lichtenberg to emerge with a tense 6-5 victory at the 2019 Snooker International Championships.
Ding had led 4-0, but required a deciding frame to secure the win.
A total of 13 Chinese players are at the event.
The 2019 Snooker International Championships began on Sunday in Daqing, a city known for its oilfields in northeast China's Heilongjiang province. The single-elimination tournament offers a total prize pot of 802,000 pounds sterling and the prize for the champion will be 175,000 pounds.
