SOFIA, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Brazil beat hosts Bulgaria 3-2 (23-25, 19-25, 32-30, 25-16, 15-11) in the men's volleyball Olympic qualification in Varna on Sunday evening and won a ticket for Tokyo 2020.
Supported by the 6,000 spectators in the fully packed Palace of Culture and Sports, the hosts were very close to the victory having a match point at 26-25 in the third set.
However, the reigning Olympic champions managed to turn the set and the match.
In the round robin tournament, the two teams recorded victories over Puerto Rico and Egypt on Friday and Saturday, and Egypt beat Puerto Rico 3-0 (25-17, 31-29, 25-17) earlier on Sunday.
Brazil, a triple Olympic champion, is the only country to have played in every single edition of the Olympic Games since volleyball was introduced to the Olympic program in Tokyo 1964.
Bulgaria, which finished fourth in London 2012 but missed Rio 2016, still have a chance to win an Olympic berth from the continental qualifying tournament in January 2020.
