CAIRO, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- The Arab Parliament (AP) condemned on Wednesday the remarks of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to annex a key part of the occupied West Bank if re-elected.
AP Speaker Mishaal bin Fahm Al-Salami in a statement described the remarks as "aggressive and arrogant."
"Such statements pose a grave threat to the principles of the peace process and destroy the two-state solution," said Al-Salami.
"Israel is deliberately acting to escalate tensions," he added.
Netanyahu's pledge, made on late Tuesday, involves extending Israel's sovereignty over the Jordan Valley and the northern Dead Sea.
Al-Salami urged the world community to immediately take firm and effective measures against the Israeli occupation power and its expansion policies.
Israel occupied the West Bank in the 1967 Six-Day War and also seized part of the Golan Heights from Syria.
