BEIRUT, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Ambassador to Lebanon Wang Kejian reviewed on Friday several achievements of China in the past 70 years.
In an exclusive interview with local TV Channel OTV, Wang used detailed data to introduce China's great achievements in the fields of economic development, social and people's livelihood, poverty alleviation, as well as positive contribution to the world.
The ambassador's interview came ahead of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC).
"The Chinese used to live in poverty before the establishment of the New China. Throughout the past 70 years, China was capable of offering its people prosperous lives where everybody can enjoy at least basic needs such as food and clothes, which is a very big achievement for such a huge population," he said.
On the economic level, China plays a great economic role in the world, Wang said.
"China is the world's second largest economy and the largest trader in terms of the volume of imports and exports," he said, adding that China is a major trading partner for more than 130 countries in the world.
China has also achieved great success in education and social development, he added.
