BEIJING, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- Ten opera troupes across China will jointly put on a series of opera performances to respect the elderly in celebration of the Senior's Day, or the Double Ninth Festival.
The plays include the classic traditional opera "Lady General Mu Takes Command," which tells the legend of a female general's patriotism in the Song Dynasty (960-1279), as well as famous local plays from various regions, such as Henan, Zhejiang and Fujian provinces.
The festival, also named Chongyang Festival, falls on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month, which is Oct. 7 this year.
