BUCHAREST, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- An photography exhibition opened Tuesday in Romania's western city of Cluj-Napoca to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China.
The China Photography Exhibition, sponsored by the Euro Foto Art Association and the Chinese Embassy in Romania, and organized by the Confucius Institute at Babes Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca, displays a total of 70 works by Romanian and Chinese photographers.
The works which cover Chinese natural landscapes, urban scenery and modern technologies, will help the Romanian people better understand contemporary China, according to the organizer.
At the opening ceremony, Nicolae Sera, the Romanian director of the Confucius Institute, read a congratulatory message from Emil Boc, mayor of Cluj-Napoca and also a former prime minister of Romania, who expressed his congratulations on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
Traditional Chinese music on Guzheng and Erhu played by volunteer teachers from the Confucius Institute, as well as Romanian violinist Thurzo Sandor Jozsef's solo "I Love You, China", won the applause of the audience at the ceremony.
