LUSAKA, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- Zambia's soccer governing body on Wednesday commended the women's team for qualifying for the fourth round of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualifiers after beating Botswana.

The Zambian team beat Botswana 2-0 on Tuesday night away in Francistown to progress to the next round.

Andrew Kamanga, president of the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) said the team has added to the remarkable performance shown by women's teams at various levels in the country.

He said in a release that the victory takes the team closer to realizing their dream of Olympic qualification which the association has placed a high premium on.

"On behalf of the FAZ executive committee and myself, I would like to congratulate the team for a job well done. We are proud of the progress that you continue to make in all the competitions you have participated in," he said.

He encouraged the team to continue working hard and stay focused as they have two more qualification rounds which are more competitive.

The "Copper Queens" qualify to the next round on a 3-0 aggregate and will meet Kenya in the fourth round with Cote d'Ivoire and Cameroon facing off in the other remaining fixtures.

The winners of the two fixtures will meet in the fifth round with the victors automatically qualifying for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics while the runners up will engage in a play-off with Chile.
