COLOMBO, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- One people was killed and 46 others were injured when two passenger buses collided head on in Minneriya, in north central Sri Lanka on Thursday, the police said.
Police Spokesperson, Ruwan Gunasekara said one of the buses was travelling from capital Colombo to Batticaloa in the east when it crashed into another passenger bus travelling in the opposite direction.
The driver of one of the buses succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to hospital.
The injured passengers were taken to a nearby state hospital by residents in the area.
Police are conducting further investigations.
