JAKARTA, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- About 100 cyclists from 18 teams based locally and internationally will compete in the 2019 Tour de Singkarak in Indonesia next month, two officials disclosed on Wednesday.
More than 20 countries will be involved in the event which is slated to be held from November 1 to 10 in two provinces, West Sumatra and Jambi, head of the tourism department in Jambi province, Ujang Hariyadi, revealed.
The race is made up of nine stages with a total distance of 1,263 kilometers, according to the spokesman of administration of the province Johansyah.
The racers will start at Pariaman district of West Sumatra province and finish in the provincial capital of Padang, he said.
"We hail this sport event. As two stages of the race will finally pass Jambi province," said Johansyah.
The event offers a 151,140 U.S. dollars total prize money, according to local media.
The international Tour de Singkarak cycling event is sanctioned by the world's governing body for cycling sport, UCI (Union Cyclist Internationale.
