BEIRUT, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- The European Union Delegation to Lebanon urged the formation of a new Lebanese government capable of implementing structural reforms, the National News Agency reported Wednesday.
"The government should be formed without any delay and authorities must communicate with the civil society and listen to their demands," the EU delegation said in a statement.
The delegation also called upon Lebanese authorities to protect demonstrators.
"Political parties are responsible for the behavior of their supporters," said the delegation.
Seven people were injured during protests at Martyrs' Square in central Beirut on Tuesday after supporters of Amal and Hezbollah destroyed and burned tents belonging to protesters.
Lebanon has been witnessing for the past 13 days nationwide protests against the government's malpractices over the past years, which call for the resignation of the president, prime minister and all parliament members.
