XIAMEN, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- A total of 28 foreign films, along with over 50 Chinese cinematic works, will be showcased during the 28th China Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival, which kicked off Tuesday in Xiamen, east China's Fujian Province.
The 28 selective films are from countries including Russia, Kazakhstan, Iran and Japan. Among them is a Kazakhstani director's drama film "Ayka," which was shortlisted for the Palme d'Or award at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival.
Five domestically-made documentaries will also be shown for the first time during the annual event.
At the highly-anticipated closing ceremony scheduled on Nov. 23, the 32nd Golden Rooster awards for the best actor, actress, director and feature film, among others, will be announced.
Jointly initiated by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the China Film Association in 1992, the annual film pageant is held in Chinese mainland cities in rotation.
