Freezing coldness, torrential waters, underwater currents...... winter swimmers plunge into the Yellow River in Lanzhou, northwest China's Gansu Province, in spite of all the challenges. Most of the swimmers are from Lanzhou Winter Swimming Association, aging from 20 to 88. They swim almost everyday in the Yellow River, also known as the mother river of China. According to the association, its members have reached almost 400 now. Many of them are heros who have saved more than 200 lives from the river in the association's 30-year-long history.
