SARAJEVO, April 5 (Xinhua) -- Mayors of South East Europe have committed themselves on intensive cooperation and continuous linkage of the capital cities of the region at the Capitals Summit 2019 in Bosnia and Herzegovina's (BiH's) capital Sarajevo on Friday.
After the one-day summit, Sarajevo Mayor Abdulah Skaka, as organizer and host, addressed reporters saying that mayors send a unified message of "Cities without Borders", pointing out on the interconnectedness and cooperation.
Skaka emphasized that capital cities of the regions are generators of success, progress, and stability of the whole region and that they will work on the "promotion of the joint values and success, living together and respecting all the differences with an aim of improving the lives of citizens."
The focus of the summit was on the intensive exchange of experience and the continuation of the application of the so-called "smart decisions" in the development of capital cities.
Mayors pointed out the need for a better connection of capitals in terms of better infrastructure that will make transport of people and goods easier.
The final aim of all cooperation is a joint work on the entrance of all the countries of the region in the European Union (EU) by which the lives of the citizens would be improved and lasting peace and stability would be achieved.
