NEW DELHI, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- Tremors were felt in northern India, including national capital and Indian-controlled Kashmir, after a strong quake jolted Afghanistan Wednesday, officials said.
There were no immediate reports of any damage or casualties, a disaster management official said. "Metro rail services have been suspended after the tremors," he said.
According to the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre, the quake struck 270 km northeast of Kabul in the Hindu Kush mountains, at a depth of 180 km.
"Apart from the Indian capital, the northern states of Kashmir, Punjab and Rajasthan felt the tremors. Some parts of Pakistan also felt the tremors," the official said. Enditem
