TOKYO, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Monday morning on the Dow Jones Industrial Average's recent winning steak, with the yen's retreat against the U.S. dollar also adding support.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 288.76 points, or 1.33 percent, from Friday to 22,009.01.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 27.40 points, or 1.58 percent, at 1,764.77.
Wholesale, consumer finance and warehouse-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
