TOKYO, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher on Wednesday as investors bought back issues deemed oversold following Nikkei's recent four-day losing streak.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 116.57 points, or 0.50 percent, from Tuesday to 23,585.96.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 12.87 points, or 0.73 percent, at 1,773.99.
Mining, oil and coal product, and farm and fishery-oriented issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
