KIEV, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- The Boryspil International Airport, the largest airport in Ukraine, served a record number of passengers in 2018, local media reported on Thursday, citing the airport's report.
According to the report, some 12.6 million passengers traveled through Boryspil last year compared with 10.6 million travelers in 2017.
Local analysts attributed the rising passenger traffic to attracting 10 new air carriers to the airport and opening 24 new routes.
Since 2014, the annual throughput of passengers via the airport has increased by about 83 percent.
Located 20 km southeast of Kiev, Boryspil is the busiest airport in the country, covering about 67 percent of the passenger traffic in Ukraine.
The airport set a target to increase its passenger throughput to 20 million travelers by 2023.
