YANGON, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's southern Tanintharyi region authorities have reopened border gates and island resorts after the weather bureau lifted its warning on tropical storm Pabuk Sunday, the official Global New Light of Myanmar reported Monday.
The cyclonic storm over the Andaman Sea has weakened into a deep depression, said an announcement of the Meteorology and Hydrology Department.
The border gates and resorts were suspended earlier due to the tropical storm crossing near Kawthoung.
Local tourism businesses returned to normal on late Sunday with motorboats providing ferry services to local and foreign travelers to island resorts.
Other services between Kawthoung and Ranong were also resumed on the day, the report added.
