KABUL, May 28 (Xinhua) -- A total of 14 Haqqani militants were killed in separate military operations in two eastern Afghan provinces on Tuesday, the command of special forces said.
"The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces launched successful operations in Ghazni and Paktia provinces early Tuesday. As a result, 14 Haqqani network militants were killed," Afghan National Army Special Operations Corps said in a statement.
The Haqqani network, which was designated as a terrorist group by the United States in 2012, is a military wing of Taliban militant group.
The statement added that nine Haqqani militants, including a divisional commander of the group, were arrested by the security forces.
Security forces also destroyed amount of weapons and ammunition following the raids.
The network has not made comments on the report yet.
